Chris Pratt Talks About His Views, Says, “I’m Not a Religious Person”

Pratt speaks about his involvement with Hillsong Church, which has been subject to a lot of criticism

Chris Pratt has finally spoken about how he views religion. Over the past two years, the actor has come under pressure over his views on religion, and the church he attends. But in a new interview with Men’s Health, the Jurassic World star clears the air, or so we hope. Let’s read in detail.

Chris Pratt started off by saying that religion has been oppressive as f*** for a long time. He said that he had no idea that he would become the face of religion when in fact, he’s not a religious person. The actor became the face of religion when he cited his “nine rules” while accepting an award at the 2018 MTV Movie & TV Awards. At the time, he said “God is real, God loves you, God wants the best for you. Believe that; I do.”

Pratt thinks that there is a distinction between being religious, which is adhering to the customs created by man, and using it to control people, take money from them, and abusing children. He believes that religion has enabled people to steal land and justify hatred. Pratt finally adds that the evil that’s present in the heart of every single man has made its way to religion, turning it into what it is today.

On Attending Hillsong Church

In 2019, actor Elliot Page slammed Chris Pratt and his family for attending an “infamously anti-LGBTQ” church named Hillsong. Pratt clarified, saying he has never went to Hillsong, and doesn’t know anyone from the church. At the time, he responded to Page saying his church opens their door to absolutely everyone. Pratt attends Zoe Church, which certain outlets described as a “Hillsong affiliate.”
