The singer is teasing her upcoming works via her social media bios, and it started with her album announcement last week. She had recently changed it to “6. BREAK MY SOUL midnight ET”. This is also a hint that the newly-released song will be number six in the album. Also, Renaissance was described as “Act I” meaning more are to follow.

Beyonce is harmonizing with herself in the new dance number, which has a beautiful piano and snare drums accompanying her vocals. The singer is collaborating with Big Freedia, who had worked with her in the past. The mantra “You won’t break my soul” might be gracing T-shirts and coffee mugs or Instagram bios in the coming days.

“Break My Soul” has arrived two days after the Juneteenth holiday. It was at that time two years ago when Bey released the charity single “Black Parade.” It was used to raise money for her BeyGOOD’s Black Business Impact Fund which supports small Black-owned businesses. That’s not all though. The song received four nominations at the 63rd Grammy Awards, among which were Song of the Year. It won the Best R&B Performance, making it the singer’s 28th Grammy win.
