American Music Awards- A star studded event!
This year’s American Music Awards represented the year’s top achievements in the industry (all completely fan-voted) where the event was vibrant with non-stop music and Award distributions from Pop to Rap, Latin to K-pop, R&B to Country, and many more in the line.
Taylor Swift was the star of the show with Six Awards
And where the Award show is in the talks, so are the prize winners who banged the Awards, such as Taylor Swift who is best known for her parasocial relationship with her fans, and is the highest-ranked AMA honoree of all time. She took the lead with six wins including the Artist of the Year, breaking her own record.
Taylor Swift has won quite AMAs so far in 2022, including the favorite country album for Red (Taylor’s version), favorite country singer-songwriter, and favorite pop singer-songwriter. Taylor Swift was the biggest winner of the night, taking home six wins, including Entertainer of the Year and Favorite Music Video.
Other celebrated Winners
While there are quite a number of heavyweights that are in contention for numerous nominations, a number of up-and-comers were recognized this year for their music as well, with more than 40 artists including Latto, Jack Harlow, and BLACKPINK receiving their first nods for 2022. In addition to the Icon Awards, fans were allowed to vote on their favorite artists across all categories once nominations were made public in October.
This also leads us to further winners, BTS took home two AMAs this year, who was the gang of last year’s Artist of the Year winners. Including the list, the band also took the first-ever AMA for Favourite K-pop Artist. In the R&B category, Beyonce won Favorite Female R&B Artist and Favorite R&B Album (Rebirth), and Chris Brown was awarded as the Favorite Male R&B Artist, ahead of The Weeknd, Brent Faiyaz, Lucky Daye, and Giveon.
During the Live Show, Host Wayne Brady starts off The 2022 American Music Awards which is a fun and entertaining shot grabbing the whole attention of the crowd towards him.
He later took a moment of tribute to Takeoff, the late rapper, speaking about his success and life in the industry. Furthermore, Anitta was awarded as the favorite Latina artist, Harry Styles won Best Pop Song for As It Is.
