In the world they have created, there is potential to tell rich stories. Thanks to the anthology format they have adopted, they can entertain the old fans as well as newcomers. The first announcement for the series was made in September 2020. At that time, it was also announced that the main show will end with its 11th season. Additionally, Norman Reedus and Melissa McBride would star in a spin-off about their characters Daryl and Carol, but no news were given afterwards.

Gimple said that the new series will run on new voices, perspectives, and ideas. This gives them a chance to create stories with a different beat. He also thanked AMC for the chance to extend the show further and bring new content for viewers. Let’s hope that we get to see more from this world of zombies.
