Are we closer to the Wild Hunt?
Season 2 of Netflix’s The Witcher came out not too long ago, but season 3 is already in the works. Netflix has made it their goal to adapt iconic franchises, be it books, cartoons, or games. The Witcher is based on the game, based on the original novel by Polish author Andrzej Sapkowski. Henry Cavill got casted as the live-action Geralt of Rivia and made his debut in 2019. The series has been successful so far, and we will get to see a lot more in the future. In fact, we got the first image to show season 3 has began production.
The Witcher Season 3 Details
Netflix themselves shared the new image as part of the announcement, accompanied by a plot synopsis. In the photo, we can see the three main protagonists taking a break in between the shoots. We have Henry Cavill in full Geralt look, accompanied by Anya Chalotra as Yennefer, and Freya Allan as Ciri. A dense and snowy forest lies ahead of them. A few crew members, large screens, a horse, and a rundown shack is also seen.
As for the official synopsis, the events pick up right after season 2. Ciri is public enemy number one and is being chased by monarchs, mages, and beasts of the Continent. Geralt takes Ciri into hiding, and is ready to protect her from anything that threatens her peace. Yennefer is also with them, after being entrusted to train Ciri in magic. She takes them to the protected fortress of Aretuza, and hopes to awaken more of Ciri’s dormant powers. But what lies ahead is political corruption, dark magic, and treachery.
Release Date
As exciting as this sounds, we have quite the wait ahead of us. Season 1 and 2 of the series premiered in December 2019 and 2021 respectively. Season 3 can also be expected to follow suit and release in late 2023.
