Netflix’s Resident Evil Trailer Shows New Characters Battling Old Problems

The series will be arriving on July

Netflix is releasing a new Resident Evil series, and the first trailer has arrived. Based on the iconic horror survival game by Capcom, the new series is to be set on the same universe, but in a distant future. Let’s understand the story and characters in detail.

The Resident Evil series will have Jade Wesker as the central character. Jade is the daughter of longtime series villain Albert Wesker. From the trailer, it is understandable that the series will be jumping between the years 2022 and 2036. The 2022 segment will have Jade and her sister Billie moving with their family to New Raccoon City. But soon enough, they stumble across a dark secret that their father has hidden away. Flash forward to 2036, we see Jade trying to survive in London, which is ravaged by zombies who were born from the Umbrella Corporation’s T-Virus. Also, Billie is missing and Jade needs to find her.

The trailer shifts between the sparkling white New Raccoon City, and the red and gory darkness hidden away by Umbrella. There are also shots of a laboratory with vials of blood titled “Jade” and “Billie.”

It is clear that Netflix has found the series bankable, but is not really doing a good job. The franchise has a lot of content, but the movies and shows that are being made always fall short of expectations. Netflix’s previous series in the franchise, titled Resident Evil: Infinite Darkness spent a long time in development and didn’t make a mark. The 2021 standalone movie, titled Resident Evil: Welcome to Raccoon City was also bad. So the new series is their chance to make things right.

It will be available for streaming on July 14.
