Will the second season dominate the watchlist as the first one did?
Bridgerton was an unexpected and massive hit, ever since it dropped on Netflix on Christmas day 2020. The series was created by Shondaland and based on the popular novels by Julia Quinn. The story is a mix of romance, passion, sentimentality and scandal during Regency-era London.
The story is about the Bridgerton family, comprised of eight siblings and their mother. Season one focused on the eldest daughter Daphne, who made her debut into society as she reached marriageable age. Despite being the most sought-after girl of the season, she didn’t like her suitors and inorder to get the right one, she and the Duke of Hastings enter into a ‘fake’ romance. The duo thought that Daphne would soon find a suitor she likes since they didn’t really see eye-to-eye, but some unexpected developments take place soon.
Is season 2 happening?
It would be criminal if the show didn’t get another season. Besides, the show is based on a series of books, so that itself is a dead giveaway that more is yet to come.
The news of its second season actually came before season 1 began, but due to the pandemic, it was delayed. But they released an announcement video in late January 2021 that they’re back in session.
The series will however come sometime in 2022, since a 2021 release date is quite unlikely, but never say never.
Season 2 plot
Season 2 is about the eldest Bridgerton, Anthony. Anthony finds himself in a love triangle when the sister of the woman he intends to marry, Kate Sheffield, proves herself to be very meddlesome and does all she could to stop the betrothal as rakes couldn’t be trusted. But Kate soon finds out that she is slowly falling for him in the process.
