We are just hours away from the very first trailer of the survival horror film
We got the first look of the cast of Resident Evil: Welcome to Raccoon City last year, and now we have something new. Virus-infected dogs will appear in the new film as well. The movie serves as a reboot to the franchise produced by Constantin Films, based om the iconic Capcom video games. The story follows a group of survivors who head to Raccoon City to uncover secrets about the deadly virus that ravaged the world. They soon find ties to it to the Umbrella Corporation.
Cast and crew
Resident Evil: Welcome to Raccoon City will bring many fan-favorite characters to the big screen. It includes Kaya Scodelario as Claire Redfield, Avan Jogia as Leon S. Kennedy, Robbie Amell as Chris Redfield, Hannah John-Kamen as Jill Valentine, Tom Hopper as Albert Wesker, Lily Gao as Ada Wong, Neal McDonough as Dr. William Birkin and Donal Logue as Police Chief Brian Irons. The movie is directed by 47 Meters Down fame Johannes Roberts, who will also pen the script.
Production wrapped up in December 2020, but delays due to COVID-19 affected the theatrical release. It is now scheduled to hit theatres on November 24, 2021.
Bringing fan-favorite enemies
The zombie dogs are just one among many iconic creatures that we have seen in the franchise. The first look we got suggests that the dogs in the new movie is bulkier than that of the games and Paul W.S. Anderson’s past films. They also used practical effects in the first films starring Milla Jovovich, but have chosen a CGI model for the new one. While not many will be pleased at the new model, it can still be scary when we watch in theatres.
Fan-favourite antagonist Lisa Trevor will also return in Resident Evil: Welcome to Raccoon City. The new movie will focus more on horror, unlike Anderson’s action-heavy movies.
