Overwatch 2: Activision Rumoured to Release the Beta Version Soon

Expect an announcement in the next 3 weeks

Activision Blizzard has kept mum about Overwatch 2 in recent months. However, recent tweets have stated that the beta launch for Overwatch 2 will happen soon. It originated in the Overwatch subreddit, and shared on Twitter first by @FireTheGull.

Until Activision makes an announcement or not, it is important to take this news with a grain of salt.

What’s new

The game was announced 2 years ago, and Activision has taken their sweet time in developing it. There will be changes of course, and this includes a whole new 5v5 format. Each team will have one Tank-class hero less to bring in more balance. Some heroes will also be in a different look, and this includes Mei.

Some fans have noted that the sequel looks too similar to the original, which was unsatisfactory to hear. But that can be corrected if an official beta version comes out and players can test out the new mechanisms. Activision must be changing things up, since the game was indefinitely delayed after the original November date.

The latest Overwatch version is now available for Devs only on battle.net. Liz Ricardson, a known esports journalist recently tweeted in concern of the Overwatch league. In that, she confirmed that the 2022 season will “begin on an early build of Overwatch 2.”

Overwatch continues to be one of the most-played FPS to date. It came out in 2016, and took the world of games by storm. While it didn’t become a phenomenon like Fortnite, millions still play it.

That said, the sequel must have more dynamic environments, and battles must be on a larger scale. Fans have also asked for more storytelling.
