The former couple has finalised everything in these few months
Zooey Deschanel’s husband Jacob Pechenik had filed for divorce in October 2019, ending their 4-year marriage. The couple had two children together, Elsie, 4, and Charlie, 2.
And in the past week, their divorce has been settled. The New Girl actress had already started seeing Property Brothers star Jonathan Scott and the couple had been pretty public about their relationship.
Going forward
Deschanel and Pechenik’s divorce details aren’t known yet, but since the case filing has taken place, it means they have worked out the important matters such as custody and child support. They had announced it in a joint statement in September that they opted to remain as friends, business partners and co-parents instead of being life partners.
They wanted the divorce to be kept away from the public eye so they opted for a private judge to oversee matters.
Meanwhile, the actress started seeing her new beau shortly after separating from her husband. The two have kept their dating lives public and have shown their trips to Las Vegas among other things. The divorce was filed by Pechenik shortly after the couple went public on her social media.
The actress met Scott while filming James Corden’s Carpool Karaoke in August and it seemed that it was love at first sight between the two. Jonathan later revealed during an episode of his twin brother Drew Scott’s podcast, that he had been flirting so much with Deschanel that the producers had to cut most parts out.
He was all praise for her back in January during an episode of Tamron Hall’s talk show and said how he had met someone for the first time who was able to bring the same energy, both romantically and creatively, that he brought to a relationship.
