It’s been a long- long time since we last heard any news about the Netflix anime Knights of Sidonia since its second season released almost 5 years ago.
It’s been a long wait for the fans of the much anticipated third season. We haven’t got any major updates during the show’s 5 year-long sabbaticals. Will there be a season 3 of the show? If, yes when will it release and what will it look like? We have tried to cover everything for you.
Knights of Sidonia was the first Netflix Original anime and is based on the manga of the same name by author Tsutomu Nihei. The series is not entirely original but Netflix has acquired the exclusive rights to stream the series worldwide.
Knights of Sidonia is set in the year 3394. Humanity had to leave the planet after it was destroyed by a race of shapeshifters known as the Guana. People left on hundreds of spaceships but the only surviving ship with conceivably the last remnants of humanity aboard is the Sidonia. The story follows the adventures of Garde pilot Nagate Tanikaze, a Guardian pilot, who has to save Sidonia as it is threatened again by the Gauna.
How long will the season 3 of Knights of Sidonia be?
The anime has finished around 43 chapters out of the 78 available chapters of the manga. The timeline has been altered a little in the anime but the show makers are following most of the available chapters of the manga.
Since there are around 35 chapters left, we can guess that season 3 will perhaps cover around 12 to 14 chapters and the other chapters will be covered in the following seasons.
Is the production of Knights of Sidonia S3 over?
We haven’t heard a lot about the production of the anime, but sources claim that season 3 started its production in 2017, and it’s 2020 now. We are guessing the show has finished its production but the release may be delayed due to other prevailing issues.
Knights of Sidonia Season 3 Release date:
Season 3 was first expected to release in the summer of 2019, but it’s 2020 and we have no news yet. The only good news is that the series has not been canceled and is still on the way. Since production is taking longer than expected, season 3 maybe be longer than the previous ones.
We are hoping that season 3 releases in 2020, but like most anime’s it will first release in Japan, and then have a worldwide release.
