Director Jon Chu is all set to begin shoot for the global hit Wicked as he has decided with whom he wants the film to be with. The cast includes Marissa Bode, Bowen Yang and Bronwyn James. Also, Keala Settle, Aaron Teoh and Colin Michael Carmichael will be joining them. The previously announced cast members include Ariana Grande, Cynthia Erivo, Jeff Goldblum, Michelle Yeoh, Jonathan Bailey and Ethan Slater.
Talking about their roles, Bode will be playing the role of Nessarose, who happens to be Elphaba’s sister. The role is about a character who uses a wheelchair for living. Bode is quite famous for her acting skills as she has been experiencing the world of musicals and plays since she was just 8-year-old.
Moreover, Yang and James will be playing the roles of Pfannee and ShenShen, respectively who are the classmates of Elphaba and Glinda at Shiz. Teoh will be seen playing the role of Avaric and Carmichael will play Nikidik. Christmas being the most awaited festive will bring the release of ‘Wicked’ in 2024 and 2025.
The production is on Broadway by Universal Stage Productions, Platt, the Araca Group, Jon B. Platt and Stone. With a successful win with over 100 international awards including the Grammy Award and three Tony Awards by Broadway hit, Wicked has been promoted the way longer, with amazing performances in over 100 cities in 16 countries around the world, which includes U.S., Canada, United Kingdom, Ireland, Japan, Germany, Holland, Australia, New Zealand, Singapore, South Korea, The Philippines, Mexico, Brazil, Switzerland, and China. It has also been translated in 6 languages: Japanese, German, Dutch, Spanish, Korean, and Portuguese.
Marc Platt will also be producing for his Universal-based Marc Platt Productions with David Stone. Senior Executive Vice President of Production Erik Baiers and Vice President of Production Development Lexi Barta will be overseeing the project on behalf of Universal.
