This might be the change we have all been waiting for
WarnerMedia has been acquired by Discovery in a massive $43 billion merger. And one of their first decisions is to find DC Films its own version of Marvel Studios’ Kevin Feige. Read on to find out more.
Why DC Films Needs Its Own Kevin Feige
DC movies, or rather, the DC Extended Universe has been somewhat of a dumpster fire. The universe that began with 2013’s Man of Steel has continued to face opposition throughout the years for its direction and storytelling. Aside from that, the former Warner Bros. team that oversaw the films made it look to much like the successful MCU that they failed miserably.
But since the acquisition, David Zaslav, the new CEO of Warner Bros. Discovery has been looking into things. In fact, Zaslav is looking for candidates who can serve as a creative and strategic mastermind similar to that of Kevin Feige. In a report by Variety, one of the candidates is Emma Watts, the previous president of production at 20th Century Fox and motion president at Paramount. Other sources claim that Zaslav had less in a creative guru, and is more concerned about someone who has the business background to make sure all the factions at DC work in harmony.
DC’s Superman Problem
Another thing Zaslav looked into is Superman. The Man of Steel is not the DCEU’s priority, and the new managers believe they are wasting the character’s potential. Zaslav stated that top-shelf characters like Superman “have been left to languish.”
Superman star Henry Cavill has also not been seen since Justice League. The British actor still wants to play the iconic role and said he is simply waiting for DC to make the first move.
DC, do it right this time.
