The release date of Netflix’s Violet Evergarden Season 2 will be anytime soon. No one expected this anime movie to return as the Anime’s story was based on a relatively short novel series of the same name, but anime studio Kyoto Animation is known for stretching a story beyond the original storyline.
In July 2018 the Violett Evergarden movie was announced, but was delayed due to the horrific KyoAni fire attack, but was later announced to be released in 2020’s spring.
The Violet Evergarden anime is based on a novel by Kana Akatsuki which won the fifth Kyoto Animation Award. The original draft was published in 2015 leading the way for the second novel which was published in 2016 and it completed the main story. Afterwards, Violet Evergarden novel released in March 2018.

Fans hoped that the third edition would further continue the main story, but is largely focused on side characters like Benedict, Cattleya, and Hodgins. Along with an announcement of the new movie, Kyoto Animation announced that the violet Evergarden Volume four will be written soon, but the announcement didn’t confirm whether the novel will be in continuation of the main story or will it again focus on the sidelined characters.
Netflix’s Violet Evergarden, when dubbed in English, received immense appreciation from both critics and viewers.
During an interview in 2017, the director told that the novels are structured in episodic form, where each novel independently showcases Violet writing on behalf of a client. Taichi explained that it would be difficult to use the same presentation techniques in the animated adaptation as anime and novel are two different mediums. This is the reason why the story has been reconstructed into a TV Series.
