Vikings is a popular historical drama T.V. series created and written by Michael Hirst and aired on History channel. The show follows the journey of Ragnar from a farmer to the king of Scandinevia by multiple raids into England. The latest episode “The Best Laid Plans” was broadcasted on 5th of Feb and it has turned the plot in a new direction.
Bjorn’s demise
Although Bjorn had his eyes on the Rus and knew that they were closing in. It’s was quite a surprise to him that Ivar would be the one to take him down. Maybe it’s because Ivar was underestimated for a long time. Especially his power of patience. Keeping control on oneself and patiently waiting for the perfect moment was his strategy for the battle.
Overthinking and unwise decisions
Unlike Ivar Bjorn was pondering where to shift next before his army lost ground. Overthinking didn’t seem to help him take any wise decisions. Ostracizing white hair and being merciful to Hvitserk lead to his downfall.
Relationship held by a thin thread
The child of Bjorn and Gunnhild was the only thing that was keeping them together. It was obvious that Bjorn loved the company of Ingrid father than his wife. This lead to the implosion of their relationship which further lead to the killing of the child. It was a tear dropping moment to see Gunnhild saying goodbye to her dead child.
Gunhild in action
Gunnhild was needed for the battle with Rus. The death of her child brought her back to the battle. There were many near death moments for her in the battle but she manages to escape.
King Harald is no more
King Harald is not an extremely likable character in the series due to his addiction to power. That caused him to turn on Bjorn. Considering his treatment to Ingrid it seems his death is well deserved.
Ivar and Oleg
Oleg’s plans are getting success from the valuable assistance provided by Ivar. But Oleg might backstab Ivar and break his trust.
Episode 10 was a surprising yet successful episode.
