After Let There Be Carnage’s Success, Sony is wasting no time
Sony has officially announced that Tom Hardy-starrer Venom will return for a third movie! Sony is putting more focus on their Spider-Man universe, even if it seems like they don’t know what they’re doing half of the time. But Venom has definitely been a hit, and its sequel, Let There Be Carnage maintained its status. This comes at a time when theatres were just reopening after being shut down due to COVID-19.
Anyway, the events of Venom: Let There Be Carnage and Spider-Man: No Way Home made it clear that a third movie will happen. Let’s read in detail.
The combined universe
In the post-credit scene for Let There Be Carnage, we see that Eddie and Venom have went into the MCU. They get to learn about Spider-Man, and that his secret identity is Peter Parker before being taken back into their own universe. We know it’s only a matter of time before they meet their own universe’s Spider-Man. Most of the characters we see are actual villains from Spider-Man comics. However, Venom is depicted as an anti-hero, much like recent comic issues. With characters like Morbius, Vulture, and Kraven set to cross paths in the future, it’s exciting to see how he will proceed.
Production Details
While the project got announced, Sony did not reveal if there are any new cast or crew members. We are yet to see if Andy Serkis will direct the third movie. Venom 2 received a lot of positive reviews, so Sony can approach him again. Fans are trying to piece together information from No Way Home and concluded that Eddie and Venom will face Andrew Garfield’s Spider-Man. Meanwhile, Tom Holland and the rest of the MCU will get to deal with the piece of venom that got left behind.
