Under the Banner of Heaven comes from Oscar-winning Milk screenwriter Dustin Lance Black. It is based on the best-selling true-crime novel by Jon Krakauer. Executive producers include Black, Ron Howard, and Brian Grazer.

Black spoke about producers FX and Imagine, and thanked them for adapting this story. He himself was raised in the LDS faith, as in the story. With the series, they hope to shed light on the brutalities committed in God’s name.

Under the Banner of Heaven will air in Hulu later this year.
