The Conjuring universe expands further
The latest installment of The Conjuring universe has begun filming. That’s right, The Nun 2 is currently in production in France. The news was shared by James Wan, who introduced the demon Valak on The Conjuring 2, and is currently an exec producer on the spin-offs. The sequel is directed by Michael Chaves.
The Nun 2 First Image
The first image of The Nun 2 is of a priest character in a dimly-lit room, possibly inside a church. The film slate is covering half of his face. The movie’s plot wasn’t shared by Wan, but what we do know is that it takes place in 1950s France. Bonnie Aarons, who plays the demonic character since the start, will be returning alongside Taissa Farmiga, who plays Sister Irene. The new cast member is Storm Reid (The Invisible Man), who will be playing a secondary lead.
Chaves was the director of The Conjuring: The Devil Made Me Do It, and will direct the screenplay written by Akela Cooper (Malignant). Wan joins producers Peter Safran, Gary Dauberman, and Michael Clear.
The Nun So Far
The Nun terrified audiences around the world in The Conjuring 2 in 2016, and was undoubtedly a major reason for the movie’s success. We see her haunting Ed Warren (Patrick Wilson) at the Warrens’ home in the United States and follow them to Enfield, England. The spin-off film of the character, which came out in 2018, had the biggest box office collections out of all the movies in the universe, so it’s surprising how the sequel took four years to begin production. But now, we can experience more scares on the big screen.
The Nun 2 comes to theatres on September 8, 2023.
