The last kingdom is a British historical fiction television and webseries. It is produced by Chrissy Skinns based on Bernard Cornwell’s The Saxon Stories novels. The first season had eight episodes and it premiered on 10th of October 2015 on BBC America.
For the British audience it premiered on 22nd of October 2015 on BBC two. The second season, which also consisted of eight episodes, was telecasted on BBC two in the UK in March of 2017. It was co-produced by Netflix as BBC America exited. The third season consisted of ten episodes and was solely produced by Netflix. It began streaming on 19th November 2018.

The good news is that it was confirmed that by Netlfix on 19th November 2018 that The last kingdom is going to be renewed for season 4.
As of now there is no official news about the release date of The last kingdom season 4, nor the trailer is out yet. But it is expected that that season 4 will be out in late 2020.

Plot for The last kingdom season 4
The series is set in Hungary during the time of 9th century A.D. when England was divided into 7 separate kingdoms. The series portrays the attacks of Vikings on Anglo-Saxon lands and ruling there.
The protagonist of the show is a fictional character Uhtred of Bebbanburg. He is captured by the Danes and brought up by them. However Uhtred later betrays the Danes and joins the Wessex king, Alfred.
In season 4 there will lot of troubles after the death of Alfred. Eadith will be Athelred’s new love. Let’s see how all of this will affect Edward and his mother’s relation.
