DCEU’s Multiverse is about to begin
Barbara Muschietti, sister of The Flash director Andy Muschietti and a producer in the movie states shooting is almost done. The movie is set to release in the United States on November 4, 2022. Ezra Miller takes the lead as the Scarlet Speedster, after first appearing in Batman V. Superman: Dawn of Justice and Justice League.
The movie takes inspiration from the iconic Flashpoint story. In Flashpoint, Barry Allen attempts to bend time and space to prevent his mother’s death, but ends up creating a paradox. The heroes and world events he is familiar with all get changed, and some new enemies also appear. The script is written by Christina Hodgson, who is also the screenwriter for the upcoming Batgirl movie.
Production delays
The movie was in development for a long time. Originally set to premiere in 2018, several setbacks happened following Justice League‘s box office disaster and other challenges. Official production began in April 2021, with The Burghley House in Stamford becoming the new Wayne Manor. Shooting was suspended in July after a camera operator got injured while filming. Everything went smoothly afterwards, and it’s now reaching the end.
The DCEU’s Multiverse
Even though we know the movie is inspired by the Flashpoint storyline, certain things are different. Firstly, we will see Sasha Calle entering the DCEU as Supergirl. Secondly, both Ben Affleck and Michael Keaton returns to play Batman.
Things seem to be looking better after the DCEU’s rocky start. The upcoming movies include Shazam! Fury of the Gods, Aquaman 2, and Black Adam. The most-anticipated movie for now is Matt Reeves’ The Batman. The next DC Fandome event is in October, where we will get new trailers for The Batman, Shazam!, and Black Adam. Hopefully, we might get a teaser for The Flash as well.
