This trip will mark Swift’s only visit to Australia after the release of her new album Lover. Taylor Swift’s performance at the Melbourne Cup will be her only public appearance in Australia and that too in only one city – Melbourne.

Her decision to perform at the Melbourne Cup has caused a lot of controversies and angered animal lovers. The animal activist took to social media and urged Taylor Swift to cancel her performance at the horse racing event. The Coalition for the Protection of Racehorses started a campaign asking Taylor to cancel her show and say #NupToTheCup.

The group proclaimed that Taylor Swift is known for her love of cats. Extending her love for other animals, the group pleaded that she should make the decision out of compassion and love for animals and not be motivated by money. The event has been known got having at least six horses killed over the past six years.

The Chief Executive Officer Neil Wilson shared his excitement over Taylor’s scheduled performance at the Melbourne Cup. He shared his joy at having the opportunity to see the world’s biggest $8 million race along with one of the world’s biggest entertainer and all for “the cost of a general admission ticket.

It seems that Taylor by confirming her performance at Melbourne and in that way shared her decision on the controversy. This, of course, has upset many fans and angered many animal activists. But there is Swifts fan in Australia who are very happy to be able to see the singer perform live in their country.

The singer has shared her excitement about performing at the event too. She shared, “I have heard so much about the race.” Swift is supposed to play two tracks from her new album, Lover.
