Ready for a treasure hunt?
“Let’s fly” is a dialogue that stood out in the new teaser for Star Trek: Discovery. The line was spoken by Captain Michael Burnham and the reason for the new adventure is a treasure hunt. The trailer for the Paramount+ series was unveiled at the Star Trek Universe panel at New York Comic-Con. The teaser has hinted the wildest adventure yet for Captain Burnham and her team.
Star Trek: Discovery Season 5 Details
While the teaser is out, Star Trek: Discovery Season 5 is still being filmed in Toronto. Sonequa Martin-Green joined the rest of the panel virtually due to that reason. Those who showed up included Anthony Rapp and Wilson Cruz, along with co-showrunners Alex Kurtzman and Michelle Paradise. Executive producer Rob Roddenberry was also in attendance.
The teaser opens with Dr. Kovich (David Cronenberg) telling Michael that the greatest treasure in the known galaxy is out there. The rest of the almost one-minute clip shows the crew of the Discovery embarking on a wild and deadly adventure. Being a teaser, nothing further about the plot has been shared, apart from the romance between Saru and T’Rina. A sequence in a desert planet was also shown.
We also get to see some new cast members. Callum Keith Rennie (Battlestar Galactica) has joined, complete in a Starfleet uniform. He will be playing Captain Rayner. Eve Harlow (The 100) and Elias Toufexis (Shadowhunters) will play Moll and Lák, two new characters.
Release Date
Season 5 of Star Trek: Discovery does not have a release date as of yet, since filming has not wrapped up. But it’s likely to arrive after Star Trek: Picard season 3, which is arriving on February 16.
