Sony goes back to post-civil-war America with its ‘Little Women’: Sony releases the trailer of Greta Gerwig’s ‘Little Women’ which is star-studded with famous personalities.

Greta Gerwig’s ‘Little Women’ film adaptation has a cast of many A-listers as the first snippet of the film revealed. The brand-new rendition of Louisa May Alcott’s famous novel, Little Women, will star award-winning actors such as Meryl Streep, Saoirse Ronan, Timothee Chalamet, Emma Watson and more.

The story of the March sisters in post-Civil War America has been a famous novel amongst readers and movie makers. The short teaser released by Sony Pictures gave us a glimpse into writer and director Gerwig’s adaptation. Greta Gerwig made her solo directorial debut in 2017 with the film Lady Bird, starring Saoirse Ronan. Little Women will be the second time that Gerwig will direct Ronan.

The film will have Meryl Streep as Aunt Josephine March, Saoirse Ronan as Jo March, Emma Watson as Meg March, Florence Pugh (The Little Drummer Girl) as Amy March, Eliza Scanlen (Sharp Objects) as Beth March, Laura Dern as Marmee March and Timothee Chalamet as Theodore “Laurie” Lawrence. The cast also includes James Norton as Meg’s husband, John Brooke, Bob Odenkirk as the absent father of the March sisters, Chris Cooper, Louis Garrel, and Abby Quinn. The film will have Ronan’s Lady Bird co-star Timothee Chalamet play opposite her character once more.

The coming of age story of the sisters is set in the 1860s, is still relevant and ever modern in its content commented Laura Dern. Ronan said that she re-read the book for the film, and it is radical and incredibly stylish. She added that the story is so relevant now to the confidence that women have in themselves and in taking their path.

Sony’s Columbia Pictures is to release the film on Christmas Day this year in the United States and on 17th January 2020 in the United Kingdom.
