‘Popeye’ star Shelley Duvall returns to sets after 20 years of absence
The actress, Shelley Duvall, who has been missing since 2002, is finally back on the big screen. She will appear in the indie horror film Forest Hills, directed by Scott Goldberg and produced by Scott Hansen.
As the title itself suggests, the film will consist of the participation of the Catskill Mountains. It tells the story of a disturbed man named Rico who is plagued with nightmares and frightening dreams after suffering a head injury while camping in the Catskill Mountains. Duval will reportedly play Rico’s mother.
Where was Shelly all that time?!
Shelly talks about her mental illness and her struggles with it. In an interview, she said that her Popeye co-star Robin Williams is alive and “changing,” but that’s a completely nonsensical move since Williams committed suicide in August 2014. While she claimed that the “Sheriff of Nottingham” was threatening her, she also spoke of hearing voices coming from “rotating discs” in her legs.
In 2009, Duvall came to highlights after being featured in an issue of the National Enquirer. She did absolutely crazy things in her apartment and worried her neighbors. One of the residents says, “She’s wandering around town…it looks disheveled, weird, and completely insane.”
Another resident expressed her concerns, calling her a “virtual recluse prowling around swings in the fog” and asking for her help. Duvall seemed like being in her senses at that time as she said, “I would love to go back to acting if it was the right role.”
Do check out more about her in the interview and keep a track on the upcoming news about her film!
