Shazam Sequel Receives an Earlier Release Date
Warner Bros. decided to delay the release for multiple DC films, except “Shazam.” Shazam is the only film to release an earlier release date among all the others. However the sequel to Shazam will still move up a few months. The DCEU movies had to be pushed further because of the Covid- 19 pandemic. But Shazam definitely stood the test.
“Shazam! Fury of the Gods” originally received the release date of April 1, 2022. But because of the pandemic, got delayed to November 4, 2022. Then, it received a June 2, 2023 release date. Lucky for the fans, the film will now release on December 16, 2022, just before the holiday season. Along with Shazam, “The Flash” and “Aquaman and the Lost Kingdom” and “Black Adam,” all got delayed.
Fury of the Gods Better Than the First
The 2019 Shazam!, was very successful and grossed $140.4 million in the United States and Canada. The movie grossed $366 million worldwide. It received a lot positive reviews both critically and commercially. “Shazam! Fury of the Gods“, will revolve around Billy and his family will fight against their enemies.
Warner Bros. did not release anymore details about this upcoming project. The star of the film series, Zachary Levy said that fans will like the sequel better than the last one. Since they had more budget and time, it was better, added Levy.
Production and Filming
In addition to the original cast consisting of Zachary Levy, Asher Angel, Mark Strong, Jack Grazer and others Helen Mirren and Lucy Liu will also join the cast. David F. Sandberg will direct, who directed the original film will also direct the sequel, with a screenplay by Henry Gayden and Chris Morgan.
The production for Fury of the Gods, began shortly after the release in April, 2019. The filming started back in May 2021 and it wrapped in August in Georgia.
