Jessica Mann and Harvey Weinstein’s case is a challenging one for the prosecutors as Jessica considers that she was raped during her long relationship with Harvey Weinstein that included some consensual sex.
This trail is one of the most closely watched in history, as it arose from the #metoo movement in the past. Mr. Weinstein gained limelight after several women accused him of sexual misconduct.
Jessica Mann, the accuser in the Harvey Weinstein rape trial, broke down on Monday when it came out in court that she was sexually assaulted at a younger age.
Jessica who considered Mr. Weinstein a father figure began crying in the witness stand when she was asked to read aloud a note she wrote to her former boyfriend in which she described her relationship with Harvey Weinstein, there she read a line that revealed she was sexually assaulted and abused long before her meeting with Weinstein. In the letter, she wrote that Weinstein had given her all the validation she ever needed. He offered to help Mann in ways her parents never did; adding to this, she wrote that sometimes she feels hopeless about being with an older man because of her being a lost cause.
No one in the court was able to calm Jessica. To which the judge adjourned the trial for the day. She was breathing heavily, and she could be heard screaming from a distance. People still can’t understand how an emotional collapse of one of the key accuser is affecting the trial.
On Friday, Ms. Mann told the jury that she was raped by Mr. Weinstein back in 2013 morning when she arranged a breakfast meeting with her friends from the industry and Mr. Weinstein. On cross-examination, it was revealed that Ms. Mann still went for breakfast with him and attended a movie premiere that he had invited her to.
In the end, it was concluded that Ms. Mann used Mr, Weinstein and attempted to highlight inconsistencies in her testimony
