A ‘Maybe’ has been added by HBO Max for Friends Reunion Special
A ray of tiny hope that flickered last year with a rumoured reunion of the legendary sitcom FRIENDS has been quashed again. HBO Max isn’t absolute about the reunion as recently told by the HBO bosses at an event.
From 2004, when the show pulled down its curtains, people have just wished and hoped every single day for a reunion of this show that continues to be a massive phenomenon globally. And it appeared for a fleeting moment that maybe prayers have been answered and the wait of the fans would get culminate in a delightful way as Friends reunion special news starting making rounds. But it has been released now that those were just the rumours, sadly.
In a recent TV Critics Association press tour on Wednesday, chief content officer Kevin Reilly didn’t share what everyone was anticipating from him to hear. Taking the stage at the event, he rather shared what everyone is familiar with by now, he said about the unscripted special with the original team that there is interest all the way around, and yet they can’t seem to quite get that interest all aligned to push the button on it. “So today, unfortunately, it is still a maybe,” he apprised which broke several hearts.
The reunion picture of the whole cast by Jennifer Aniston with which she had launched her presence on social media last year, was the catalyst behind this spur of the reunion special episode news. Though like the creators of the show, Aniston too had denied the possibility of a reboot, however, she had said that she would love for there to be something but she doesn’t know what that something could be. “So we’re just trying. We’re working on something,” she had informed last year in early November on The Ellen DeGeneres Show.
But it looks like the wait of the fans (including me) will not end anytime in the near future. The show that has become a happy place for half of the global population tops the list of the shows whose reboot/sequel/special are most awaited. People still hope to see the same faces marching on their screens singing, ‘I’ll be there for you.
