Morgan had quite the embarrassing week following Meghan and Harry’s interview with Oprah
ITV presenter Piers Morgan has quit his show “Good Morning Britain” following comments he made about Meghan Markle caused a public outcry and resulted in an investigation by the U.K.’s media regulator.
The show later confirmed the news in a statement on Tuesday evening local time that after discussions with ITV, Morgan has decided that it’s the right time to leave Good Morning Britain. ITV also accepted his decision and didn’t add anything else to it.
Walking off
Earlier yesterday, Morgan walked off the set fuming with rage after he was completely burned by co-host for his continued harsh criticism of Prince Harry and Meghan following the now famous interview with Oprah.
During that interview, Meghan had shared about feeling suicidal while she was pregnant with their son Archie, and that the royal family forbade her from seeking help as “it wouldn’t be good for the institution.”
On Monday, Morgan started speculating whether the Duchess was honest in saying she had suicidal thoughts, but this led to a huge outcry in Britain and he got to hear it from both the citizens as well as the mental health charity Mind. But that didn’t deter him as Morgan said on Wednesday that he still doesn’t believe Meghan.
Alex Beresford’s comment
On Tuesday, Morgan was criticized on live TV by his own colleague Alex Beresford. Alex said that he understood that Piers didn’t like Meghan Markle, and that he had made it clear a number of times in the program. He also said that he’s had a personal relationship with Meghan and she cut him off. He went on by asking Morgan if she had said anything bad bOut him on television, and that he doesn’t believe she has, yet he continues to trash her.
That was when Morgan walked off the set.
