Earlier this year, there were rumors that Keanu Reeves join the Fast & Furious universe. The spin-off movie Hobbs & Shaw starring Dwayne Johnson and Jason Statham was supposed to be Keanu’s inception into the world. He was going to be playing terrorist leader Eton in the movie.
However, things didn’t work out as planned. This was mainly due to schedule conflicts and creative issues. Originally, Keanu had a much bigger role in the movie as Eteon but due to some creative differences that didn’t pan out. That is why the villain ended up being just a voice without a body.
This worked out alright in the end as the faceless voice lent a greater air of mystery and intrigue around the character. But as it turns out, it was simply because the heads of the franchise couldn’t find the right actor for the job. Still, there is still a chance for Reeves to join the franchise in the next Fast & Furious movie. The 9th installment is coming soon and Reeves just might be in it.
According to reports, the actor was recently seen meeting with writer Chris Morgan who helms the Fast & Furious franchise. He has always said that he is keen on Reeves to be part of the lineup in the movies. But it looks like that will be hard to do with the actor’s schedule. He is set to appear in a lot of big movies next year – Matrix 4, John Wick: Chapter 4 and Bill & Ted Face The Music. So, will he be able to make time for another action film?
The jury is still out on that. There is still a lot of time left for the movie to release. According to the official announcing, Fast & Furious will premiere on May 22, 2020. And also, there will be at least two more movies in the franchise so plenty of opportunity for Reeves to join the gang.
