The drama was a remake of the 2001 film by the same name
Bungee Jumping of Their Own‘s upcoming drama remake has cancelled production. The drama, which is a remake of the 2001 movie was set to star NCT’s Jaehyun as Im Hyun Bin, and Lee Hyun Wook as Seo In Woo.
Reason for cancellation
It was reported on December 9 by Kakao Entertainment that production has been cancelled. The reason? The scenario writer of the original, Go Eun-nim, didn’t like how it was shaping up to be and expressed concerns. Kakao Entertainment also mentioned that rights for derivative works, which includes rights to remake the original, goes to the main production company Choice Cut. After discussing in detail, it was decided to suspend the production in respect of the writer’s opinions. and that brought Jaehyun And Lee Hyun Wook’s upcoming drama to an indefinite halt.
The story
The movie was a unique love story, and was widely successful when it released. It starred Lee Byung-hun as Seo In-woo, who unexpectedly falls in love with a fellow student named In Tae-hee (Lee Eun-ju) in the university he’s studying in. After knowing each other for just two weeks, the two start dating, but their love is short lived as Tae-hee dies when she gets hit by a car. Seo In-woo struggled to get over it, and a part of him belonged to In Tae-hee, even after getting married and having a child in the 17 years that followed. He is now a high school teacher and suddenly comes across a new student named Hyun-bin, played by Yeo Hyun-soo.
Hyun-bin shared similarities of his lost love but In-woo struggles with the concept of falling in love with another man. They even get bullied by other students for showing homosexual characteristics. However, they manage to overcome societal stigmas by realizing that Hyun-bin is indeed Tae-hee reincarnated.
Fans will have to wait now to see Jaehyun And Lee Hyun Wook together, hopefully, in some new drama.
