Michael Keaton makes a special mention at the 2022 Critics’ Choice Awards

This Sunday night witnessed the 27th Critics’ Choice Awards. And Michael Keaton from Dopesick bagged the award for the best actor.

While receiving his award, the 70-year-old actor joked that he has to go to the bathroom. He said this in reference to his acceptance speech during the SAG Awards previous month.

The Founder actor added that the awards season is his favourite time as one can smell all the fake humility around. However, in his speech, he made a special mention which is definitely going viral.

Keaton gave a special shout out to the Ukrainian President

During his acceptance speech, Keaton gave a special shootout to Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy. He thanked his former fellow actor and supported him to keep up the fight.

The Need for Speed actor continued that there are two factors to change things both environmentally and socially. And those are voting rights and voter supression.

Michael Keaton further talked about opioid epidemic

The Hulu series Dopesick deals with the origin of opioid crisis. And Keaton plays the role of Dr. Samuel Finnix who wants to cure the patients but discovers the intensity of the addiction.

In reference to the series, Keaton said he’s proud of how they dealt with the addicted people with dignity. Furthermore, he added that the pressure always falls on the women who has to raise kids and maintain a home. The actor got somewhat emotional in his speech and thanked the women facing opioid crisis.

Moreover, Keaton admitted that he didn’t have much idea about opioid addiction before. But this series helped him to get  in touch deeply with the subject matter. And he appreciates the fact that Dopesick is out there for the people to watch and learn.
