Luis Enrique recently faced a huge loss as his beloved daughter, Xana, passed away on 29th August 2019. The nine-year-old was diagnosed with bone cancer five months back.
The former coach of Barcelona resigned from his job as Spain’s national team’s manager in the month of June after Xana was found to be ill. On Thursday, Luis declared over Twitter, “Our Daughter Xana passed away this afternoon aged nine after fighting for five intense months with osteosarcoma [bone cancer].” (translated from Spanish). Saying this, he carried on the post by extending his gratitude to all his fans, friends, and the dear ones. He also thanked the hospital, including the doctors, nurses, and all other staffs under whose supervision Xana spend her last days, for the treatment they served. Further, he ended the post by wishing his daughter a hearty and tearful farewell. His ending text read, “…. with the hope that one day in the future we will meet again. You will be the star that guides our family. Rest [in peace] Xanita.” (translated from Spanish).
The president of Barcelona, Josep Maria Bartomeu, conveyed his condolences over Twitter and expressed his deep sorrow for the loss of Lui Enrique and his family.
