Lizzo’s ‘Truth Hurts’ number-one on Billboard Hot 100 after 2 years of its release!

The American rapper Lizzo took everyone by surprise when her song made it to number-one on the Billboard Hot 100 chart. ‘Truth Hurts’ which was released in 2017 thrashed Shawn Mendes and Camillo Cabello’s ‘Senorita’ to reach number-one on September 3, 2019.

How did ‘Truth Hurts’ manage to top the Billboard chart after two years of its release?:

‘Truth Hurts’ thrashed ‘Senorita’ which was trending for a week to attain the number-one spot. According to sources, the main reason for the hype also could be Netflix. The catchy tune appeared in Netflix’s hit show ‘Someone Great’ from which the song gained popularity. Lizzo became the first black solo R&B artist after Rihanna whose song featured on the number-one spot on Billboard. Rihanna’s ‘Diamond‘ wad on number-one on Billboard in 2012.

Lizzo’s reaction to the achievement?:

Rapper Melissa Viviane Jefferson, popularly known as Lizzo, took to Twitter to express her feelings. She also Tweeted a picture with an emotional caption. She said that people had underestimated her and now she is here on number-one. She thanked her fans for continually supporting her. Many of the Hollywood celebs also praised her including Reese Witherspoon and Cardi B.

It is indeed an emotional foot to achieve. In 2019, she received her mainstream success with her third studio album Cuz I Love You. The album released with singles such as ‘Juice’‘Tempo’ and ‘Truth Hurts’. Besides singing, she has also tried her luck in acting.
