The series hasn’t been green-lit yet
BBC’s thriller Killing Eve has come to a close after four memorable seasons. While we have said goodbye to Eve (Sandra Oh) and Villanelle (Jodie Comer), there is still something to look forward to. According to Deadline, a spin-off series focusing on the early life of MI6 spymaster Carolyn Martens is in the works. The character was brilliantly played by Fiona Shaw in the series. Both BBC America and AMC Networks is on board as producers.
About Carolyn From Killing Eve (Spoilers ahead)
Caroline is the brilliant, ruthless, and enigmatic head of MI6’s Russia desk. She plays a pivotal role throughout the series. She creates a special unit to look into mysterious assassinations happening around the world as she sees a link. This results in Oh’s Eve Polastri getting hired.
Carolyn can be described as an antagonist as she never shies away from getting her hands dirty for the greater good. She rarely showed sympathy for those that went through immense tragedies, and was never a good mother to her son, Kenny. But after Kenny dies, she has expressed remorse, and admitted to her faults. Later on, she blames herself for Kenny’s death as she got him to the special unit to investigate assassinations.
About the Show
Laura Neal, the co-writer of Killing Eve season 4 is the first person to speak about the spin-off to Radio Times. She said that she cannot say the series is coming to an end entirely. Deadline additionally reported that the series will focus on Carolyne’s early life as she works for the MI6 in Russia.
Since it’s still in the early stages, we have no news on the casting. As a result, Shaw’s return is also doubtful.
