There will be a significant disturbance on the force this fall on Law & Order: SVU. A detective from “Law & Order: Special Victims Unit” is leaving. The NBC drama’s Amanda Rollins, played by Kelli Giddish, will end after the next 24th season. She will appear in at least the pilot. The network declined to give specifics on her departure.
During Season 24, Kelli Giddish will resign from her position as Det. Amanda Rollins after more than ten years on the job. Although the precise date of her departure is yet unknown, rumors claim that her last episode will run in the season’s first half.
Kelli Giddish’s final statementÂ
To clarify the online rumors, the actress remarked, “I wanted to let everyone know that this will, in fact, be my last season on Law & Order: SVU.” She continued that One of her greatest thrills and honors in life has been playing Rollins. She had the incredible fortune of spending the last 12 years as a member of the Law & Order family. Rollins is unlike any other TV character, period. Rollina has matured and changed, and so has Kelli Giddish.
She is glad that she got to spend so much of her adult life with Rollins since she started working on this program when she was in my late 20s, Kelli Giddish said.
For our wonderful work together over the past 12 years, Giddish said, “I want to thank Dick Wolf, Mariska Hargitay, Warren Leight, Peter Jankowski, NBC, Universal Television, all of my co-stars, every single person on the crew, and all of the writers here. “I’m so eager to apply what I’ve learned during my time on SVU to everything that’s coming up,” the speaker exclaimed.
NBC declined to comment for this story, but David Graziano, the new SVU showrunner, had a lot to say about it.
Giddish replaced Christopher Meloni as SVU Season 13 cast member in 2011. The sitcom stars Ice-T as Sergeant Fin Tutuola, Peter Scanavino as ADA Sonny Carisi, Octavio Pisano as Joe Velasco, and Molly Burnett as Detective Grace Muncy. Mariska Hargitay plays Captain Olivia Benson. At the start of Season 23, Rollins and Carisi started dating after working together for years.
How will Rollins story end?
An SVU insider claims that Rollins will go through a horrific occurrence early in Season 24; however, it’s not clear if the incident sets the stage for her termination. NBC is also mum on how Giddish will be written out. Her withdrawal will undoubtedly have a significant impact on Peter Scanavino’s Carisi, to whom Rollins is emotionally attached.
SVU will begin Season 24 on Thursday, September 22 with an unprecedented three-show crossover with the recently restored mothership series and fellow offshoot Organized Crime, as we were the first to reveal.
Giddish and fellow newcomer Danny Pino joined SVU at the start of Season 13 back in 2011. (who left at the end of Season 16). The two were hired to take Chris Meloni’s place after his abrupt resignation.
Giddish made her acting debut in 2005 on “All My Children” on ABC, where she played Di Henry. Before playing Rollins, she first appeared as a guest star on “The Good Wife” and then scored series regular parts on Fox’s “Past Life” and NBC’s “Chase.” Additionally, she had several appearances on the “SVU” spinoffs “Chicago Fire” and “Chicago P.D.”
