As reported by Deadline, the new film has been acquired by Amazon Studios. Cena is set to play a police officer named Shep. His character is described as “a wrecking ball of a cop.” The script will be written by Ben Zazove and Evan Turner, and will see Cena teaming up with a local cop to take down a diamond ring operating in India. Details on Cena’s co-star is yet to be revealed.

Cena will also be an executive producer on the movie, along with The Safran Company’s Peter Safran and John Rickard. They had previously worked with Cena on James Gunn’s Peacemaker for HBO as well. Cena had been executive producer on Peacemaker too.

While Cena has not achieved the cult status as the other WWE alum, Dwayne Johnson, he is getting there. His schedule has been packed since last year’s Suicide Squad. He will be next seen in the animated hybrid film, Coyote vs. Acme and another action comedy called Freelance. He was also seen in Fast and Furious 9, but confirmed that he will not return in the next installment.

Officer Exchange is still in development and has not provided a release date.
