Jillian Michaels gets criticized by fans for body-shaming singer Lizzo.
Michaels in an appearance at BuzzFeed News‘ ‘AM to DM’ on Wednesday asked the reason for fans celebrating Lizzo’s body. She questioned why they are celebrating Lizzo’s body and why it matters. Adding to it she asked why people are not celebrating her music. “It isn’t going to be awesome if she gets diabetes”. she said
The 45-year-old celebrity fitness trainer went on to say that and her kid she loves her music. “But there’s never a moment where I’m like, ‘And I’m so glad that she’s overweight'”, she added
People all over social media started criticizing Michaels and accused her of body-shaming Lizzo. Netizens spammed her account for the disappointing and fat-shaming comment calling it ‘fatophobia’ and not just health concern for Lizzo.
Michaels was quick with her clarifications on Twitter as well as Instagram for the controversial comment. Referring to other diseases that come along with obesity like diabetes and heart issues, she said that she would never wish these for anyone and she would hope everyone prioritizes their health because we love ourselves and our bodies. Followers dropped their anger in the comments section accusing the lady of defending herself and reverting back.
This also sparked actor Jameela Jamil to step into the issue and raise her voice. She tweeted: Stop concern-trolling fat people and get in the bin.
Though netizens have shown their fury to Michaels calling her to not fit everyone into her perfect body image, Lizzo has still not commented anything over the troll. The pop singer is on a break from Twitter to avoid negativity for a while before she comes back.
