Talking about the series Hollywood, Ryan Murphy calls it, “a love letter to the Golden Age of Tinseltown.” The upcoming series will be set in the 1940s and it will center the lives of its three main characters played by Jeremy Pope, Darren Criss, and David Corenswet. Probably, Pope will be playing the character of an aspiring writer named Archie, in the series Hollywood.
The upcoming series is an outcome of Murphy’s collaboration with his frequent collaborator Ian Brennan. This year in summer, Hollywood’s principal photography went underway with all the main characters- Pope, Criss, and Corenswet. All three of them will be executive producing along with starring. Other than them, Patti LuPone and Holland Taylor will also co-star in the series.
After The Politician and Ratched, Hollywood will be Murphy’s third show for Netflix. And also first under the director’s mega overall deal with the streamer.
Before Hollywood, Pope debuted on the big stage with the past season of Broadway with two roles- Actor in a Play for Choir Boy and Featured Actor in a Musical for Ain’t Too Proud: The Life and Times of the Temptations. Both of these roles helped him earn Tony nominations. Also, Choir Boy was nominated for Tony for best play while Ain’t Too Proud was nominated for the best musical.
It is also rumored that Murphy approached Pope for Hollywood after seeing him on stage in Ain’t Too Proud and Choir Boy.
