His Dark Materials is a television series for the BBC and HBO. The series is an adventurous and fantasy one based on the novel of the same name by Philip Pullman. Until now it has released only one season with eight episodes. The series was adapted for a second season before the premiering of the series in 2018. It will also contain eight episodes. There were also many rumors and mixed reviews regarding the cancellation of the show after the airing of the first season, but the show has not been canceled yet.

The show will return again with the collective efforts of HBO and BBC together. No official date for Season 2 has been announced yet, but it is expected that it will release in November of  2020. Filming for Season 2 has been wrapped and all the episodes have been filmed. BBC and HBO had stated that” Let’s make 16 episodes across the two books and go for it.”

Cast and plotline of His Dark Materials Season 2

All the main protagonists of the series will return which includes Dafne Keen as Lyra Belacqua, Ruth Wilson as Marisa Coulter, Clarke Peters as The Master, Lin-Manuel Miranda as Lee Scoresby, James McAvoy as Lord Asriel, Amir Wilson as Will Parry, James Cosmo as Frader Coram, and Ariyon Bakare as Lord Boreal.  There is a new cast who is Andre Scott who plays the role of Colonel John Parry added to the series.

The second season is expected to follow the second novel of Philip Pullman’s titled ‘The Subtle Knife.’ In it, Lyra and Will meet each other in another world known as Citagazze.
