Happy Valley to return with its final season!
Popular BAFTA award winner British series Happy Valley is confirmed to return with its third and final season. BBC confirmed the news on Tuesday.
The crime thriller series, Happy Valley, is set to start shooting in 2022 in and around West Yorkshire. After almost six year, the series will be airing again as director Sally Wainwright was busy working with HBO and BBC’ Gentleman Jack’ new season. Previously Happy Valley aired on Netflix in the US but this time the show found its new home. It’s third season is set to release on AMC.
Plot:
The story of the crime drama show revolves around Catherine Cawood, a police sergeant. It all starts when a staged kidnapping spiral turns into a brutal crime series. Catherine finds herself in something bigger than her rank.
Sarah Lancashire plays Catherine Cawood. The actress also won BAFTA for her performance in Happy Valley. She will reprise Catherine’ character in the new season. Other old cast members who will be in the final season are Siobhan Finneran as Clare Cartwright, James Norton as murderer Tommy Lee Royce, Rhys Connah will play Catherine’ grandson Ryan Cawood. Other casting additions are not disclosed yet.

Wainwright said that she is happy to be back in Catherine Cawood’ world for the final season of Happy Valley trilogy. She feels wonderful to see such lasting impact of the series on audience worldwide. The stars casts are back on board and the director hopes that this third season will be the best season of the series. Wainwright said she is thrilled once again to work with the team and also the new colleagues at AMC.
Wainwright and Lancashire will serve as exec producers in season 3 of Happy Valley while BBC studios-backed Lookout Point will coproduce it with AMC.
