Will the sequel beat the numbers of its predecessor?
A sequel needs to have twice as much action as the first movie, right? This was what director Sam Hargrave said when referring to his upcoming movie Extraction 2, the sequel to his 2020 action-thriller Extraction. The movie was announced as part of the lineup for Netflix’s Tudum 2022 virtual event. Hargrave joined lead star Chris Hemsworth to talk, and show, how they’re raising the bar in every way they can. The first movie was viewed by 99 million users in the first month, and wen on to become one of Netflix’s biggest movies of all time.
Extraction 2 Production Details
From the behind-the-scenes footage we got of Extraction 2, it is clear that there is going to be a lot of action combined with practical effects. The first movie had a brilliant one-shot of a shootout to a car chase and lasted 12 minutes in total. Hargrave has decided to carry the trend with something more ambitious. It will involve a single take of a helicopter landing on a moving train. Hemsworth is also narrating in a dramatic manner on what’s to come. We see Hemsworth and co-star Golshifteh Farahani moving on from Bangladesh to a more snowy location.
About The Movie
Extraction 2 might face a similar fate as its predecessor. The first movie, while being loved by audiences, faced mixed responses from critics. But in the end, it’s about what the people love, and everyone loves a good action thriller with many adrenaline-inducing moments.
The first saw mercenary Tyler Rake (Hemsworth) rescuing an Indian drug lord’s son from Bangladesh. Screenwriter Joe Russo had hinted in the past that the sequel doesn’t necessarily have to take place after the original and can be a mission from Rake’s past.
