Poster Dropped For “Firestarter” 2022
Blumhouse just dropped the poster if the new remake of “Firestarter”. The movie is based off of the classic Stephen King novel of the same name. King published this novel back in 1980, and a film adaptation followed it’s publishing, later in 1984. The movie starred Drew Barrymore, George C.Scott, David Keith among others.
The story revolves around Charlie, the daughter of Andy McGee and Vicky. The couple took part in a secret medical experiment before the birth of their daughter. As Charlie grows up, her parents notice some unusual behaviours. Turns out, she has the ability to control fire with her mind. Things take a turn when an agency called “The Shop” wants this girl.
Will The Reboot be a Different?
Blumhouse and Universe announced the reboot in 2017 and will release the adaptation of “Firestarter” on May 13. However, the 2022 adaptation is likely to be a little different from the original. It will show a modern day perspective on the story. Now, weather that is a good idea or not, we will find out on May 13. Along with a theatrical release on May 13, the film will also stream on Peacock Streaming Networks.
Mark L. Lester directed the “Firestarter” 1984 and Stanley Mann wrote the screenplay for it. Frank Capra Jr. and Martha Schumacher served as producers for the film.
The New Team
Keith Thomas is directing the 2022 adaptation and Scott Teams wrote the screenplay. However, the original plans for the production was very different. Initially, Akiva Goldsman was set to direct and Jason Blum was to produce. But this changed. In 2018, Fatih Akin was directing. Later, in 2019, finally Thomas was appointed. Ryan Kiera Armstrong will be the star of the movie this time playing the character that Drew Barrymore played, Charlie McGee.
The poster shows Ryan Kiera, smouldering with fire in the background, quite similar to Barrymore.
