Sofia Vergara is facing the wrath of fans for making unwise comments about Hurricane Dorian.
“The Modern Family” actress had been enjoying a nice summer getaway with her friends on the beaches of Bahamas. Fans were revered by the fineness of the pictures shared by the actress with the exquisite tropical locations in the background until she decided to act insensitively and flaunt her ignorance.
Vergara posted an album of pictures from her vacation on her Instagram page. In one picture, she is gaily posing with her friend in a beachy white ensemble with drinks in hands against the beautiful tropical hills on August 29th, and sipping with her girls’ gang. However, it was not the photos that she uploaded but the caption, “Esperando a Dorian,” which translates to “waiting for Dorian” that irked fans.
People slammed the actress for her tone-deaf caption that completely negated the severity of the storm that is fast approaching the Bahamas and Florida.
“This is not funny at all,” read one comment in the comment section. One fan wrote that she’s her fan but the comment about waiting for Dorian isn’t funny at all. “This is a perfect example of the idiocy of celebrity. So self-absorbed and entitled you lose your humanity,” another furious comment was found among several other comments that condemned actress’s insensitivity.
However, none of this seemed to have affected the 47-year-old actress who continued to put her offhand attitude on display by posting another snap on August 30th, on the way back from the country in her private jet and captioned, “Bye-bye Dorian!!”
It’s utterly disappointing to see a lack of empathy from the actress who in her luxury might have forgotten the struggles that people suffer during natural calamities. She failed to gauge the situation even after the backlash from fans and proudly continued with her callousness.
