The documentary “Leaving Neverland,” which is about alleged sexual abuse by Michael Jackson won an Emmy at the recently held award show on Saturday.
And the award for the best reality show host was taken by RuPaul while Beyonce went home empty-handed.
The documentary features two adult men who say they were befriended by Jackson and sexually abused by him when they were 7 and 10 years old. “Leaving Neverland” was named best documentary at a ceremony in Los Angeles.
The program aired earlier this year, 10 years after Jackson’s death. The documentary was severely criticized by his family and brought attention to the “Black Or White” singer’s legacy.
Furthermore, Jackson’s family and his estate denied the accounts given by the men. They called the account a story of “dated and discredited allegations.”
Meanwhile, Beyonce’s 2018 Coachella festival concert film “Homecoming” was nominated in six categories. However, it was beaten in all categories.
