Netflix and TNT’s The Alienist was among the best TV shows in 2018. It is an adaption of Caleb Carr’s crime novel, with the same name. It tells the story about Daniel Bruhl’s Laszlo Kreizler, a psychologist who is investigating a never experienced ritualistic killer murdering children in New York set back in 1896.
The Alienist Season two entitled Alienist: The Angel of Darkness was supposed to be released in 2020 but the date of its release has not been confirmed yet. The same cast is expected to return to the second season including Daniel Bruhl as Dr Laszlo Kreizler, Luke Evans as John Moore, Dakota Fanning as Sara Howard and many more. However new characters would also be introduced. The plot will introduce a lot, many new women following the death of Q’orianka Kilcher Mary Palmer in the first season.
Every episode in the 10 episode season one is like a small feature film because of the production value as immensely high. The Alienist is a dark drama which cannot be watched one after another episode as one needs time to absorb the content watched.
Frank Pugliese has been announced as the showrunner as it is believed that he’ll be able to do justice to Caleb Carr’s popular sequel with his unique skills and make the second season a huge success.
Season two will follow the same pattern as its preceding season with weekly airing on US TV on TNT, before being available to the users on Netflix.
In the second season, the viewers will see Dr Kreizler reuniting with Sara, John Moore and the rest of the cast indulging in a series of research to examine the mental pathologies and physical evidence of the murderer. While searching for the missing child they come across a mysterious woman with a murderous past and a past connection with the notorious gang.
