This Sunday on 25th of August 2019, at the D23 Expo, Disney revealed about its upcoming Disney Cruise Ship. Disney also revealed its plans for a second private getaway in The Bahamas. The ship’s name is going to be the Disney Wish. This was revealed by a rendering of the Disney princess Rapunzel on the ship’s bow.
“Spirited, smart, curious and above all, adventurous, Rapunzel embodies the wish and desire to see and experience the world,” said a media release on the ship.
The Disney Wish is going to be larger than the Disney Dream and Disney Fantasy. The ship will feature 1,250 cabins and its atrium on three stories will reflect a fairy tale theme. The ship is scheduled to set sail by January 2020.
As mentioned, Disney has also announced a second private island stop in The Bahama Islands called Lighthouse Point. Though the plans have not yet passed environmental reviews. Currently, Castaway Cay is the exclusive island stop for Disney cruise passengers in the Bahamas.
Disney has purchased the Lighthouse Point and is planning to develop less than 20% of the property. The construction could begin by 2020 and finish by late 2022 or 2023. Disney is planning to use sustainable construction practices and is attempting to protect the coral reefs in The Bahamas through conservation fund.
The plans for the new cruise ship sounds so exciting that the fans cannot wait for the ship to launch. This D23 Expo was an all fun affair. At the Expo, Disney also announced its upcoming movie ‘The Jungle Cruise’ casting Dwayne Rock Johnson and Emily Blunt.
