Disney had first face pressure for not opposing the bill publicly. In fact, it got revealed that the company gave financial support to some of the people. Chapek said that they did not make public statements as they were trying ton work behind the scenes. He spoke about their long-standing relationships with some of these lawmakers. However, when they did not budge, Disney decided to speak publicly.
