In this age of Warner Bros. cancellations and revamps, here’s something to get excited about. Constantine will have a screenplay by Akiva Goldsman who will also be a producer through his Weed Road Pictures. Other producers include Bad Robot’s J.J. Abrams and Hannah Minghella. Other production details are kept under wraps for now, but we do know that the new deal happened because of Warner Bros. Pictures Group co-chairs Michael De Luca and Pam Abdy.

The movie came out 17 years ago, based on DC Character John Constantine, otherwise known as Hellblazer. He is a supernatural exorcist and demonologist who travels across worlds and realms to take care of demonic threats. While the original character is always making jokes or annoying heroes and villains equally, the version played by Reeves was stoic, and also appeared much differently. The movie was not a big success, seeing as it grossed just over $200 million at the box office. But it piqued just enough interest for fans to demand it over the years.

A bit of confusion among this is Abrams, who is a producer on the movie, has also been developing a series on Constantine for HBO Max. But due to the recent changes, it will not be happening. WB Discovery is very clear that they will be making movies for the DC character.

Meanwhile, Keanu Reeves will be seen next in John Wick 4.
