Chicago P.D.’s fall finale brought one of the best Intelligence in Wednesday’s life-and-death cliffhanger crosshairs.
The finale has Halstead abducted while undercover, along with Angela, Marcus West’s wife, the man mistakenly trapped behind bars by Halstead, after which he was murdered. This sends Intelligence on a quest to find their friend, with Upton particularly keen on saving her partner.
She almost pulls out her anger against a suspect, cries out, “Where is he?! He’s a cop. He’s one of us. Anything happens to him, that’s capital murder.” Then she warns the man to pray to God that Halstead is still alive. Later Ruzek finds an emotional Upton in the break room and reassures her that Halstead will be found.
Meanwhile, Halstead is bound, beaten, and bloodied. Once Marcus ‘ wife says she has had dreams about the boys Marcus killed and their families, Halstead acknowledges he’s a cop and Marcus wasn’t a murderer. When Angela found Halstead in the grave of her husband, she thought he was a decent man, but all this time he was lying to her.
Halstead explains that he was just following the evidence, and then by helping her and her son, he just wanted to make things right. But that’s not enough to make him clean of his sins, “You deserve to die,” Angela answers. She is planning to tell the bad guys who really Halstead is.
“You don’t,” says Halstead, advising her to be smart. They’re both going to be killed if she tells that. Luckily, Angela listens to him and helps Halstead to get out of his bonds and kick the kidnapper out just as Intelligence is closing in on his page. Upton discovers Halstead thereupon, who has been badly injured. Here the things seem to be going good and happy but when Halstead goes back to check on Angela, she shoots him!
