Britney Spears’ father steps down as her conservator

Britney Spears has a new conservator as her father, Jamie Spears gives up the responsibility. This Monday, the court approved Britney’s request to declare her manager, Jodi Montgomery as her temporary conservator. Montgomery is now all ready to take the responsibilities from Britney’s father Jamie.

Jamie took up the role of her daughter’s conservator ten years ago in 2008. This was soon after Britney’s public meltdown and hospitalization. Now, Montgomery is going to abide by Jamie’s former duties. But as already mentioned, he is going to be Britney’s temporary conservator, Montgomery has been granted the authority only till January next year.

From now, Montgomery will play the role of the popstar’s conservator which means that he now has the power to decide or restrict Britney’s visitors. He can now have access to Britney’s medical reports. And he will be the one to retain the guards and caretakers around the Grammy winner.

Britney appeared with her parents in court over the issue of her conservatorship this year in May. Then, a judge declared an expert evaluation of Britney’s situation.

Britney has been silent on the reason to let her father handle and control all her affairs, long since 2008. It is yet not clear as to why Jamie gave up the responsibility of Britney’s conservator. But there have been reports of Jamie’s poor health to be the reason for the decision.

Last year, Jamie “almost died” from a ruptured colon. Her father’s poor health had caused Britney to cancel her Las Vegas residency show. Explaining the decision, Britney wrote on Instagram, “A couple of months ago, my father was hospitalized and almost died. We’re all so grateful that he came out of it alive, but he still has a long road ahead of him”. She also wrote that she had to make the difficult decision to put her full focus and energy on her family at that time.
